Oceans Design is a proud dealer of The Galaxy SpinKlin mechanical filters. The Galaxy filtration system is a modular, all polymeric, automatic disc filter with a patented self-cleaning backwash mechanism. The 6" Galaxy system has a flow range of 1,057 gpm to 2,818 gpm utilizing 55 or 100 micron discs, typical of most aquaculture and sea water intake applications. Other sizes are available ranging from 20 to 400 microns and may be applicable to some aquaculture installations.
The SpinKlin filter systems consists of individual filter pods arranged in batteries of parallel units added to increase filtration capacity. Each pod contains stacked polypropylene discs manufactured with diagonal grooves to provide pores with a specific micron size. During filtration, the discs are compressed by means of a pre-loaded spring and differential pressure, forcing the water to pass through the grooved disc surface, thus trapping the solids. The backwash process is actuated by a time command or differential pressure and is entirely automated. External backwashing filters, which allow a sequential backwash, while the other filters continue to supply filtered water downstream are available on request.
