Oceans Designs vertical Moving Bed Bioreactors (MBBR) are non pressurized low head biofilters utilizing a media with a very high specific surface area (650 m3/m2). Our media has a high protected surface area to promote bacterial growth and increase the overall bacterial biomass. The media is available in high and low specific gravity configurations.
Moving beds come as turn key units with built in aeration grids, inlets for air and water, discharge outlets and feature an access door to allow the filter to be easily viewed and entered if necessary. Flow and feed rates can be subjective and can vary greatly among species, life stage, and water temperature.
