K3 is a carrier media for fixed film bacteria that is gaining more and more popularity with municipalities and aquaculture facilities. Like k1 media, they have a high surface area to volume ratio but these carriers are larger with no sacrifice in specific surface area. This makes the carrier much easy to deal with when removing from the filter as fewer individual carriers are present. K3 carrier elements are made in USA of 100% virgin high density polyethylene.
